Abstract
Uno de los elementos definitorios de los primeros cristianos era la práctica de la caridad con el prójimo. Este artículo analiza el desarrollo de un aspecto concreto de esta acción: la atención a los prisioneros. Los primeros cristianos se ocuparon de prestar ayuda a los encarcelados, a los esclavizados, a los condenados y a los capturados como rehenes, llegando incluso a solucionar algunas de esas situaciones. Todo ello precisaba de una buena organización que no pasó desapercibida a las autoridades romanas de la época.
Abstract: Charity towards one's neighbor has always been a typical element of Early Christian practice. In this paper, the author discusses the development of a particular aspect of this practice: The Care of Prisoners. The early Christians looked after prisoners, slaves, the condemned and those taken as hostages and they worked to resolve some of the situations as well. This practice required a good amount of organization, which did not go unnoticed by the Roman authorities of the time.
