Abstract
Abstract: This paper attempts to describe how Aristotle's Metaphysics has been a problematic subject since ancient times. Doubts begin with its hypothetical original composition in the Peripatetic school, its first transmission and its practical disappearance. The canonical edition of Andronicus raises questions about the criteria for its ordination, and even about the title itself. Later on, it is interpreted in various ways in terms of its doctrinal content, which is increasingly inclined towards a systematic nature oriented towards a theological purpose, as the work will be understood in its medieval reception.
