Abstract
Abstract: The legend and the history of the Vera Cross of Caravaca has been transmitted through the first chapters that the authors like the canon, Antonio de Honcala or the Dominican, Alonso Chacon dedicated to it in their respective works. The first book which is especially dedicated to the apparition and the miracles of the relics of Caravaca is the work of the local clergy, Juan de Robles Corbalan, which is a work of reference and obliged consultancy. It was summarized and translated into several languages in XVII Century, and is being used as the main source of inspiration for the edification of the artless romance that popularized the legend and the miracles among the people of little knowledge. Up to date, we get surprised by the elevated number of books, booklets and sheets published between 1541 and 1900, that allude or indicate widely about the known Cross and widely explains its wide diffusion in the catholic territories of Europe and America.
