Abstract

Duns Escoto dejó una obra inmensa e inacabada, además de extremadamente difícil, y esto por tres razones : primera porque tiene una mirada sistemática, segunda porque su texto refleja la huella de una enseñanza oral, por último porque nunca dejó de refundir su propio pensamiento, dejando adiciones marginales con un estilo telegráfico. La cuestión que nos atañe aquí, la Trinidad, estuvo muy presente en Escoto, y la abordamos desde la consideración que Escoto realiza de Las Sentencias de Pedro Lombardo, pero considerando de manera separada la esencia unitaria de Dios y la producción de las personas divinas, es decir, disociando el conocimiento filosófico de Dios y la teología trinitaria. Desde esta perspectiva, Escoto propone la más radical deducción a priori de la Trinidad jamás intentada en la historia del pensamiento.

Abstract: Duns Scotus’s legacy consists of a vast and unfinished work, as well as being extremely difficult, and this is due to three reasons: firstly, because of his systematic view; secondly, because his text embodies the traces of his oral teaching; finally, because he never stopped rewriting his own thinking, leaving brief marginal additions. The subject matter here, the Trinity, was also Scotus’s focus of attention, and we address it taking into account his reflection on Peter Lombard’s Sentences, but considering the unitary essence of God apart from the divine persons’ production, that is, dissociating the philosophical knowledge of God from the Trinitarian theology. From that angle, Scotus proposes the most radical a priori deduction of the Trinity beyond any other attempt in the history of thought.
