Abstract

With these introductory notes on the transition of the Franciscan Province of Cartagena in the decade 1960-1970, we intend to establish the general chronological framework of the so-called "transition of Franciscanism in Murcia", which took place at the time of the ecclesial renewal promoted by the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965) and the General Chapter of Assisi (1967). Constantino Kóser, Minister General of the Order, and Pedro de Fátima Martínez, Minister Provincial of Cartagena, were the ones who carried out "the difficult adaptation of the Order and the Province of Cartagena" to the new mentality of the Second Vatican Council.
