Cuando las diferencias son pocas, pero no marginales, Género, identidad y diferencia en la teología feminista española When Difference is Little Yet Not Marginal: Gender, Identity and Difference in Spanish Feminist Theology
Main Article Content
Abstract
Abstract: In this article, I explore how Spanish feminist theology relates to difference. I suggest that the theological subject that has been the agent and the object of feminist theological reflection as practiced by the Women Society of Spanish Theologians (ATE) is embedded in the theological frame supplied by Catholic theology. To analyse and deconstruct this theological frame and its practices of representation, I draw from identity politics and Judith Butler’s performative gender theory. I also offer other experiential and narrative frameworks rooted in Spanish Protestantism while embracing an intersectional approach. In adopting intersectionality, my goal is to avoid the most harmful effects of identity politics, which are encoded in Spanish Protestantism as well as in ATE. I conclude with some prospects and challenges to Spanish feminist theology, focusing particularly on the generation of knowledge that we, as an academic and theological Society, put forward.
