Humanistic erosion as a constitutive dimension of long-cycle economic crises

Abstract

This article addresses the relationship between the loss of moral values and long-term structural crises, known as Kondratiev waves. It explores how these cycles not only reveal transformations in the economic structure but also profound fractures in the normative systems and ethical-cultural codes that bind societies together. The central hypothesis is that the loss of humanistic values is not a consequence but rather a cause of these structural crises. Furthermore, these crises cannot be understood solely from a techno-productive perspective; they also imply a moral delegitimization of the existing order, observable in phenomena such as systemic corruption, institutional disaffection, and the extreme commodification of life. This study seeks to contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of contemporary crises by integrating ethical dimensions into the theory of long-term economic cycles.
