“A verdade vos libertará” (Jo 8,32) Experiências Religiosas perante o desafio da “pós-verdade” “The truth will set you free” (Jn 8:32) Religious experiencies and the “Post-Truth” challenges
Main Article Content
Abstract
Abstract: The article intends to understand the philosophical meaning of the concept of “post-truth”, as well as its possible relation with religion, through the conjugation with the ethical-pragmatic dimension. In order to achieve this goal, it is proposed to use the debate between hermeneutics and critique of ideologies, based on the analysis elaborated by Ricoeur and involving the way in which Hannah Arendt relates truth and politics. It follows that rather than deriving the truth from the facts, it is possible to derive the facts from the truth, conceiving it as an eschatological orientation to action, in function of certain ethical requirements. This dimension, both ethical and eschatological, allows us to understand the relationship between (post)truth and religion.
